Claytor Nature Study Center
Location: Bedford County - SR 43 north of Bedford.
About: Lynchburg College operates the nature center for environmental classwork and public use. The property contains wetlands and forest along the Big Otter River and amenities include trails, gardens, an educational center, and an astrological observatory. CNSC is a stop along the DGIF Birding and Wildlife Trail - Peaks of Otter Loop.

Blakeney
Location: Giles County - US 100 just north of the Pulaski/Giles border along Walker Creek.

Gravelly Nature Preserve
Location: Henry County - Eggleston Falls Rd. south of Martinsville
About: Henry County acquired this easement and developed a public park and nature preserve. The park features over 2 miles of self-guiding nature trails trails and picnic facilities along the Smith River.

Read Mountain
Location: Roanoke County - Crumpacker Dr. and Summit Ridge Rd. near Bonsack.
About: Roanoke County recently acquired this property per agreement in the deed of easement. In the future the property will serve as a public park along the slopes of Read Mtn. with trails and amenities such as restrooms and a picnic shelter.

Carvins Cove
Location: City of Roanoke and Botetourt County - Reservoir Rd., Carvins Cove Reservoir north of Hollins
About: The Carvins Cove easement encompasses land above the 1500 foot contour as part of the Carvins Cover Reservoir land. Carvins Cove is a Roanoke City owned park and nature preserve featuring walking and biking trails, some of which lead to the Appalachian Trail bordering the property. Carvins Cove is part of the DGIF Birding and Wildlife Trail - Roanoke Valley Loop.
