Potomac Appalachian Trail Club Inc.
Location: Frederick County - Accessed off SR 704 south of Gore in eastern Frederick County. Trail is marked with a blue blaze on the east side of the road just before the West Virginia line.
About: These two public trails traverse this property - which also contains a camp cabin and a spring that has potable water. Setting for a section of the Tuscarora Trail, a state public recreation area and the Frye Path, a transmountain trail used by settlers during the French and Indian War.

Ft. Collier Civil War Center
Location: Frederick County - Located along U.S. Rt. 11 just north of downtown Winchester
About: This is a small easement on a 10-acre parcel that has visible earthworks and an historic 1862 home that is used as a Civil War interpretive center. The grounds are open to the public and the house is open during certain posted hours.

About: This 15-acres contains the Cedar Creek Foundation Vistor Center, a significant tourism and Civil War interpretation facility. The surrounding acreage is part of the Cedar Creek Battlefield.

Location: Rockbridge County - Property is on both sides of SR 606 in northern Rockbridge County
About: This property has an herb farm and a small shop inside a restored bank barn. One portion of the property has a trail system open to the public during business hours until September 2008 when both the shop and trail will close.

House Mountain (VOF Owned Property)
Location: Rockbridge County - Go west on Route 60 (Midland Trail) about 2 miles,
then turn left on Jacktown Road (Rt. 641).
Go about 3.5 miles, then turn right on Saddle
Ridge Road (Rt. 643). Go the to end of state maintenance.
About: House Mountain is a dominant Rockbridge County landmark.
It is located 5 miles west of Lexington. Actually the mountain
has two peaks with a gentle meadowland between known as "the saddle."
Once a pasture and apple orchard, the saddle sits at the base of the cliffs
of Big House Mountain (3,645 feet) to the west and the laurel
thickets of Little House Mountain (3,386 feet) to the east.

Location: Shenandoah County - Northeast of the town of Strasburg fronting on Interstate-81 and accessed from US 11.
About: Both the house and the grounds are open to the public and have regularly scheduled public events and tours. The house is protected by a VDHR easement.

Civil War Preservation Trust
Location: Shenandoah County - Accessed off SR 601 approximately one mile west of the village of Fisher's Hill
About: This is a core area of the Fisher's Hill Battlefield and has a marked public trail that allows for self-guided forays onto this land. It is in the shadow of I-81, which overlays a number of Valley battlefields.

Kernstown Battlefield Assoc.
Location: City of Winchester and Frederick County- Located on the south side of Winchester, west of Valley Ave. (U.S. Rt. 11) via "Battle Park Estates Drive."
About: This is a large portion of the Kernstown Battlefield, where the second battle of Kernstown took place in 1864, and is open to the public during normal business hours. There is a visitors center located in a barn and a trail system for self-guided tours.
